Picnic on the beach in style

While the destination of our holiday this year remains uncertain, one thing is for sure, I will be enjoying a picnic on the beach and I definitely don’t intend to compromise on style. Eating outdoors is one of life’s simple pleasures and I believe it’s worth making just as much of an effort as you would were you laying the table for lunch at home.

I have been known to take a tablecloth to the beach to lay out over a blanket or some towels but if that’s all a bit much for you,  why not multi task and use a gorgeous soft coloured striped hamman towel. I prefer proper glasses for a cheeky glass of rosé so go for robust old school tumblers and then take enamel or bamboo cups for water. Flex your arm muscles and put everything a traditional basket rather than a cool bag, you could always hide a mini one in a linen bag to keep your drinks cool. Oh and proper cutlery. Just roll it all into a tea towel and then it won’t jingle about and you’ve got a handy cloth to wipe your hands. Finish by washing your plates in the waves and you won’t have to spend hours carving off welded on left overs at the end of the day.

In short, make an effort, I don’t think you’ll regret it.
