My discovery of Atelier Vime came through a tip off from my friend and fellow rattan obsessive, Charlotte of CLJ Home. ‘You’re going to LOVE this’ is always a promising start to a text but I didn’t know just how much until I clicked the link.
Atelier Vime came to life when friends Anthony Watson and Benoit Rauzy brought hotel Drujon in the village of Vallabrègues in Provence. They discovered that their new home had once housed Boyer Ltd a 19th century basket weaving business. In fact, for centuries wicker had been the main trade occupying the people of the whole region.
Inspired by this they decided to create a business collecting and restoring 20th century wicker and rattan furniture.
They are now collaborating with designer Raphaelle Hanley to produce ‘Editions’, a collection of original pieces made locally by nearby artisans.
Warning – You’re going to want everything.
